How 2020 Was a Blessing for Me

Okay, so there seems to be no end in sight for COVID. It's still here and looks like it has changed our lives, as we once knew it, forever. But what's so incredibly shocking for people is I don't see 2020 as a dumpster fire. I usually get met with a response equal or similar to, "Say what nah"? Or I love this one, "What you talking about K.?" Did you read that in your Willis voice? I did too.

Yes, this year has been equivalent to the most unpredictable, sometimes frightening rollercoaster ride at AstroWorld. There have been so many ups and downs, twists, and turns. However, I can't lie to you and say that I'm not taking so many nuggets away from this year. I have so many blessings to count and if you stop and think, so do you.

I want to share what I've gained this year. I hope this encourages you to think about and possibly write down all that you are grateful for. This is so cliche to say but you're here, you're breathing so consider writing that down as your #1.

Here are the blessings I plan to carry into the new year.

  1. Just because I can do something, does not mean I should.

  2. Appreciating who I was created to be, made me more aware of who I am.

  3. Sometimes a triangle is better than a circle. (Read that again)

  4. Fear caused me to be numb and/or passive and healing helped me to feel.

  5. Healing is hard but worth the work.

  6. Peace is real.

What have you gained this year? What have you truly gained? And if it helps you to write down what you've lost, do it! Sometimes when we write down our losses, we are more aware of what we've gained. Awareness, growth, and courage are words that I'm leaving this year with. How about you?
